The Eckert family decided to take a road trip to see my grandparents in Sarasota on one of our three day weekends....well, that was last weekend.
The trip started out just fine...we left at 6pm on Friday night and decided to drive about half way and then stop and get a hotel room. This idea was bright and full of hope at 10pm, but soon turned dim and hopeless as we tried four different cities/towns looking for hotels with vacancies, only to find "No Vacancy" signs posted all over the place!
After working all day and now driving for over five hours, Jim and I decided that we needed sleep and if we couldn't find a bed to sleep IN, we would find a rest stop to sleep AT. Looking back, we can laugh at it; but at the time Jim and I weren't very happy about it at all, especially since we had the kids and dogs with us. But the night turned out just fine. The kids were awesome under the circumstances and we were able to get a few winks of sleep, too : )

Enjoying some mini-golf with Grandma and Grandpa
The beaches in Sarasota are gorgeous....however, this day was very chilly and windy. And all of my Michigan friends and family know what chilly/windy feels like! Brrrrrrrrr......... I think we were on the beach a total of four minutes!
PIT STOP IN ST PETE

I have a friend in St Petersburg and it was just too darn close not to stop by and say hi! I haven't seen Kasie since I was pregnant with Tyler. We used to go camping at Hardy Dam all the time when we were teenagers (and younger, I think).
