The dark lines you see above and below this gator's face is actually the end of the dock and it's rails. This gator was no more than 5' from where I was standing. I would guess that this guy is a good 8' long.Now I'm not sure if I'm brave or stupid, but the kids and Jim would NOT get on the dock to save their lives....that is until they saw that I wasn't being threatened....that's when they decided to check things out (I say I'm brave and they are chicken... that's my story and I'm sticking to it!)
We think this was the female gator. She was a little smaller than the other gator, who we thought was a male.
Yup, this is the lake that sits about 200 yards from my backyard.......
