Peter 5:7

"Let him have all your worries and cares, for he is always thinking about you and watching everything that concerns you." 1 Peter 5:7

This is one of the hardest things to do.....let Him have all my worries. I try to put my worries into His hands only to find myself grabbing back at them as if I can make a change, make miracles happen. I can't.

As I searched for comforting bible verses, I came across this one: "Let him have all your worries and cares, for he is always thinking about you and watching everything that concerns you. 1 Peter 5:7" and found it to be suiting for this time in my life. It's a time where things seem to be in a spiral of emotions and situations beyond my control.

On this Sunday, as I sit at home in a comfy chair, not in a pew in church, I pray for God to watch over my grandfather and now my mother as well.

Halloween

Much like the last two years, Tyler has decided not to dress up for Halloween. Instead, he chose to hang out at the house and hand out candy with Candace while Jim, Bruce, Anika and I took the kids trick or treating. I'll post more pics of the kids trick or treating a little later....they are on my other camera. In the meantime, here's a few of the kids before they went out.......
Zombie

Pretty Ballerina/Fairy (she couldn't decide which)

The first trick or treaters of the night are bent over with their heads in the candy bowl

Prayer Request

This weekend has been an emotional rollercoaster, beginning bright and early Friday morning. Cutting straight to the chase: I am asking to everyone who reads this says a prayer for my grandfather, Wayne Nichols, Sr. My grandpa was diagnosed this weekend with cancer in his lungs and lymph nodes. He has been given 2 months to a year to live. I pray that these last remaining days, weeks, months, and/or years that my grandpa has left are happy and painfree. Please take a moment and say a prayer for my grandpa.

sore throats, headaches, vomitting & fevers

So we don't have the joy of seeing the leaves change beautiful colors, but we still have - albeit later - the dreaded weather changes that brings on illnesses galore.

Jayce was sick with a headache and fever Sunday...I was sure that I would have gotten a call from the school yesterday after I pushed Jayce out the door to school (I can't afford to take any more time off from work......). Luckily I escaped the day without a call from school; but he still complained of a headache when he got home yesterday. My fingers are crossed that he is fighting this "thing" well on his own.

At 12:48 am (oh yes, I remember the time) I hear a girly "Daa'aad!" yelling from down the hall. Jim gets up (b/c I'm still comatose and half in and out of it) and then Jim comes back into the bedroom to tell me - in an annoyed voice - "she threw up." So I get up and help the crying Addison wipe off the puke from her legs, wipe her mouth, and then get her a sore throat 'candy' while dad is taking care of the stinky bedding (I did get the better end of the deal, I have to admit). After all of this we get the sick lil Adders on the couch to sleep out the rest of her night....and of course, with the puke bowl laying next to her. Then it's back to bed where I ask Jim who's taking off from work tomorrow. No answer. So back to sleep I go.......

I awake this morning to Jim telling me that he has to go to work in the am, so he'll go to work until about 11am, then we get to tag out and I'll take my turn to get back to work...for all of three or four hours.

Did I mention Addison is bouncing off the walls now? No fever....but still as sore throat. My guess is that I will be taking her in for a throat culture at some point this week if the sore throat persists...... Oh the joys of parenthood. If only it were all sunshine and roses...........HA!

Dangle Halloween Party

What started out as a horrible Saturday (I awoke with yet another migraine) ended pretty well. After the two other events we had Saturday - one of which I had to bail on - we ended our night with the Dangles at their Halloween Party. It was the best decorated Halloween party I've ever been to and the company was great!

Sara (football player) & Dangle
(by this time everyone was sharing Dangle's afro wig......notice the unibrow and "mole" on Dangles face? He was some sort of Transgender-something or other)

I was able to pull off the Twister costume!
Father Jim with his "bling bling" cardboard cross

Lacy (a 50's girl) and her hubby "Nixon" in the background

Sister Melody and Father Sam (you should have seen what was written on the back of Sam's cross...it was an advertisement for an alter boy.....too funny!)

The homemade Coffin Cooler.....now THAT'S redneck creativity at it's best!

Augh

Some of my annoyances about the kids lately:

1. Waking up to a kitchen with cereal boxes left opened on the counter (and "not me" is to blame)
2. Stepping on those darn matchbox cars/planes on the floor
3. Hygene efforts (I mean seriously...do you WANT to be the stinky kid in class?)
4. Leaving their dirty clothes on the bathroom floor EVERY night
5. Having to tell them time and time again to put their shoes away when they come into the house (I make it easy for them...there is a basket RIGHT next to the door...it's not that difficult)
6. Yelling - Addison would break every wine glass in the house (if we had any) with her screaching loud pitch that she has mastered
7. Brushing "guck" left in the sink - all dried up
8. The smell of morning pee (gross, I know......TRUST ME....I KNOW!) left from the boys in their bathroom
9. The kids bathroom altogether is pretty much gross
10. Finding leftover food, or food wrapings hidden in a corner in the bedrooms of each of my kids - I swear I feed them, but apparently not enough junk

What keeps me hanging in there:

1. Kisses from Jayce when he knows I'm having a bad day
2. Drawings from Addison that say "I love mom"
3. Tyler telling me every morning and every night that he loves me

All in all, my kids are great, but there are days when I just want to scream --- that's when I tag out and escape to the computer, couch, or bed. Tonight my drug of choice is the computer ;)
